The German Danube Donaueschingen to Passau
The Danube is a beautiful river with a fantastic cycling network. Landscapes, local culinary traditions and POI?s made the trip a great experience. Quality bikes, detailed tour book and easy booking process were appreciated.
Starting in Donaueschingen we were pleased with most of the hotels which were centrally located. Some served as a restaurant and noise from kitchens was experienced.
Luggage transfers were good, theft was a concern when we found our bags sitting outside our hotel on the sidewalk, as the hotel didn?t open until midday. How agencies can limit their liability/responsibilities for luggage theft/damage is questionable when they do not take efforts to safe guard luggage.
Trip was booked through Rad and Reisen , tour expert Miklos and partnered with Radweg and Reisen. On arrival at hotel we were pleased to see our bikes on site, bikes were high quality E-bikes and well maintained. We used a combination of Tour Guidebook and Komoot to navigate route adjusting for expected detours which had very sparse signage.
Careful review of daily routes allowed us to take advantage of POI?s. The Weltenburg Abby was scheduled for an early morning visit so a previous day extension allowed us to visit Abby and have a great traditional lunch.
Self guided allows for daily schedule adjustments.
